President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed with new Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney on the development of defense cooperation between the countries.

“We discussed the development of bilateral relations between our states separately. Canada is interested in military-industrial and defense cooperation. During this war, we have extensive experience in production of electronic warfare equipment, long-range missiles and drones. Ukraine is ready for joint production,” Zelenskyy said in an evening address on Sunday following the conversation with Carney.

The parties touched upon the Ukrainian topic on the agenda of Canada’s chairmanship of the G7, where they will interact “in various formats at various levels.”

He called the conversation “very good and substantive,” and also noted the statements of the head of the Canadian government about the need to increase pressure on Moscow. “The shadow fleet, the banking sector. We must introduce total sanctions on everything that gives Russia funds to finance the war. This is the only way to force Putin to a just and lasting peace,” the president said.

“We also talked about the humanitarian aspect of security guarantees for Ukraine. This is both the restoration of our state and support for the economy after the end of the war. We will work on this,” Zelenskyy added.
